Awards Criteria

The PHMESF has sixteen (16) $1,000 awards and one (1) $5,000 award that can be provided each year. This is a competitive application process, with awards granted on the basis of grades earned; SAT or ACT scores; family income; community and school participation; a student essay; and a teacher assessment.

Awards for $1,000 are paid in two installments of $500; one payment is issued in the fall and the second payment is issued in the spring.

The $5,000 David L. Perkins award is made payable over four years; $1,250 each year, with payments made in the fall and spring semesters.

Students must be enrolled as full-time students, and maintain a minimum 2.00 grade point average after the initial award in order to receive their subsequent award payment(s).
